SOUTHWOLD LENT LECTURES 2008 Senior Citizen(65+) The Revd Dr. Keith Albans After reading Chemistry at Oxford University and taking a PhD in Chemical Entomology at Southampton University, Keith trained as a Minister in the Methodist Church at Manchester, taking a BD in 1984. He served in York (1984-1989), as Chaplain to Birmingham University (1989-1994) and in Sheffield (1994-2001). Keith was appointed as Director of Chaplaincy & Spirituality with MHA in 2001 and has been working to support the spiritual needs of older people in care homes, housing schemes and community services, in collaboration with local chaplains, and looking to share these insights with churches and community groups. As well as developing a general understanding of the spiritual aspects of ageing, Keith has developed a particular interest in end of life issues, and produced a training programme to support staff in becoming active accompanists to older people as they embark on their final lap of life.
